One of my favourite things to do in London on the weekends is to go to the market. It’s always a different experience each time, and it’s just generally got really good atmosphere. Here are two of my favourite markets in London. Remember to bring cash as they very rarely accept cards.
Portobello Market
Nearest tube station: Notting Hill Gate
Look out for: old cameras, old records, antique maps, vintage jewellery, and George Orwell’s house!
Standing outside George Orwell’s house was one of the highlights of my first year. I also bought one of my film cameras here, followed by a trip to Poundland to find cheap films.
Camden Market
Nearest tube station: Camden Town
Look out for: independent clothing labels and food stalls by the famous Camden Lock! It’s also a good place to find ideas for gifts or Christmas presents.
Other markets such as Old Spitalfields Market (only a short walk away from Brick Lane), Borough Market (near London Bridge) which is famous for its food and drinks from all over the world (lots of free cheese you guys), the Flower Market, and Covent Garden Market (best time to visit is Saturday and Sunday) are also worth to visit.
Go explore London!
